Quite often I am faced with mixed lighting especially when shooting stills for a TV production company. A good example of this was when I did some portraits of Jessica Mauboy with Sesame Streets Cookie Monster at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney. The best solution I find is to use some of the available lighting and a speedlight bounce flash to fill in the shadows especially around the eyes. The colour temperature can be corrected in Lightroom afterwards. One thing to remember is that when shooting stills for a TV or production company, priority is always given to the film crew. That means you have to be extremely quick and work out your exposure settings and bounce flash fill in settings before you are given the go ahead to shoot some portraits in between filming segments. Above all Jessica was great to work with.
