Walkthrough: Rose Bay Beach using Lightroom 5 and Perfect Effects 9

Rose Bay Beach

A Corporate client contacted me requesting a print of Rose Bay Beach, Sydney. It’s one of the beautiful harbour beaches where you are allowed to take your dog including our wonderful border collie. The client wanted an acrylic print for a friend to hang on their apartment wall as gift.

Here are the steps I followed in post production:

The original raw file was processed in Adobe Lightroom 5 and then the sky was enhanced using Perfect Effects 9 from on One Software.

1. The first adjustment made was with the adjustable gradient tool which adds a masking bug across the whole image, allowing you to separate the sky from the rest of the landscape. The filters pane is where you make all the adjustments.

2. The second adjustment I made was with the Dynamic Contrast Filter in the Filter Stack. I selected natural and made further adjustments in the Filter Options Panel.

3. The last filter adjustment I made was with the Photo Filter and I selected Graduated Warm Cool and again made further adjustments in the Filter Options Panel.
