A recent blog post from renowned photographer Joe McNally about Winter in New York <\/a>a long time ago, jogged my memory of summer in London some time ago when I was working there.
\nI also started out freelancing for newspapers and my big break came when I started doing some shifts in Fleet Street. I remember that the picture editors were always looking for weather pictures. Summer weather pictures were particularly in demand to lift people from the many grey winter days of London. My brief was simply “we need an uplifting photo of someone enjoying a hot summers day in London”. It did not matter where the photo was taken or even the theme of what the subject was doing.\u00a0I came across this young lady cooling down <\/a>in an outdoor swimming pool. This photo was published in the Daily Express. I was delighted and moved on to my next assignment.<\/p>\n
