In 2013, Sydney was enveloped in a dense smoke haze due to devastating bushfires. While the smoke caused widespread disruption, it also created an extraordinary visual spectacle. One evening, the sky turned a striking dark orange as the sunlight filtered through the smoky atmosphere. It was a rare moment I couldn’t miss.
As soon as I saw the vivid orange glow over the city, I grabbed my camera and made my way to Christison Park, where the Macquarie Lighthouse stood under the surreal, smoke-filled sky. The resulting image captures the lighthouse, a symbol of Sydney’s coastal heritage, surrounded by the fiery glow of the setting sun and the lingering smoke.
The Macquarie Lighthouse, Australia’s oldest, stands proudly on South Head, marking the entrance to Sydney Harbour. This dramatic piece of wall art is perfect for those who appreciate Sydney’s landmarks or want a unique atmospheric photo to enhance their living space.
