Description

My journey as a photographer began in London, where I specialized in black and white 35mm film for various newspapers, magazines, and PR companies as a freelancer. I’ve always believed that black and white photography captures a timeless and classic atmosphere, making the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney the ideal subject for this art form.

Constructed in the late 19th century, this heritage-listed building is a stunning example of Victorian-era design and craftsmanship. Its intricate details, ornate facades, and grand interiors evoke a profound sense of history and nostalgia.

In this piece, I focused on capturing the Great Australian Clock, located at the northern end of the building, framed by the elegant ceiling arches above and the intricate marble floor patterns below. To achieve the perfect composition, I leaned over the balcony, as using a tripod was not an option. The interplay of light and shadow was beautifully highlighted in black and white, thanks to the large skylights and expansive atrium, enhancing the architectural details throughout the scene.
