Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth, Sydney

Prince Philip seated next to Queen Elizabeth 11 at the Sydney Opera House, 13th March 2006.

The Queen was  there to open the newest edition and first major alteration to the Opera House since it was built.

The alteration included a Colonnade that runs along the western side of the Sydney Opera House’s massive platform.

So pleased to have covered this historic visit and to capture a candid moment.

Quite a few years before I had photographed the Duke of Edinburgh whist freelancing for a local newspaper.

The event was the opening of an aged care facility in south London.

The black and white negatives are filed away and hopefully easy to find.

I do remember how friendly and engaging Prince Philip was to everyone.

Above all he had a great sense of humour and put everyone at ease.

RIP Prince Philip.
