It was great to cover the Border Collie Fun Day 2014 organised by Dr Katrina Warren, as an editorial feature and as the proud earner of a beautiful 5 month old border collie puppy. Border Collie owners and their dogs came from all over and there were plenty of Border Collie activities including agility and sheep herding. Most importantly of all the day was about raising money for Border Collie Cancer Research. If I have any print sales on my website, I will be donating 50% of the proceeds to Border Collie Cancer Research.
Photographing this as an editorial feature requires getting a set of images that tells the story. Its not always easy to achieve this though. For me its something that comes as natural intuition, having worked as a photographer for many years, especially coming from a background in editorial photography. The last two photos that I needed to tell the complete story happened towards the end of the event. I managed to catch the last few moments of a boarder collie being groomed and literally as I was about to get into my car feeling that I had not quite achieved what I was setting out to capture, I managed to get a couple of shots of six amazing looking border collies all sitting together. It was that last shot that I needed to complete the set of photos and tell the story.
