I drove passed Dudley Page Reserve, Dover Heights and immediately turned the car around. It was around 5.30pm and I looked at the cloud formation and had a feeling that there was going to be a good sunset. As soon as I got out of the car there were plenty of locals and tourists around waiting to see how this sunset would turn out.
Sure enough it turned out to be great. What inspired me about this particular photo was the silhouette of the couple in front and the perfect romantic setting of the guy kissing the young woman’s hand just at the perfect moment.
I also felt that having a subject in the foreground helped add depth to the scene of the Sydney Skyline. My camera was set to manual mode and I slightly underexposed the sunset to give a more dramatic result. Very little adjustments in Lightroom after.
Because I worked for many years on newspapers and magazines it has given me that instinct to be open and to look for other things around rather than just capturing the pure landscape and sunset. A few more are in the gallery.
Great pic Paul!! Colours are amazing…
