It is one thing being found online to do a shoot and be booked for the assignment but when you find out the client you are working for is Google its even better. Thats what happened to me when I was booked to cover an event for Google Australia several months ago.
As part of the Mardi Gras celebrations Google had teamed up with Twenty 10 and Australian singer/songwriter Toby Martin to create Australia’s biggest musical collaboration at Victoria Park, Sydney. The crowd-sourced collaboration created a love song celebrating that love is stronger than hate.
My role was to capture the event and supply images that told the story on the day.
The shot list included photographing the Google booth, Google representatives working in the booth, punters contributing lyrics, a range of shots capturing Toby Martin, shots capturing the crowd enjoying the fair day, people engaging with one another as well as the live performance at the end.
When documenting such an event I know that I will be shooting constantly for about 3 hours and will end up having to do a huge edit at the end in Lightroom.
The photo opportunities were everywhere I turned and the Google Australia team were a pleasure to work with.
