Prince Charles visited Bondi Beach on friday and watched an NRL exhibition match. The Royal visit to Australia is part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. The rain was torrential at one stage. My priority was to protect my camera equipment. Once I was in my fixed position allocated to me by the Australian National Visits Office, I managed to get an arrival shot of Prince Charles waving to the awaiting crowd. I felt that this was really the best shot I would get in view of my position and the fact that it was still raining. I knew Prince Charles would not be hanging around for too long. All these images were captured on a Canon 5 D Mark 11 with an ISO of 800 and shot at 1/500 shutter speed on a 400 mm lens. I also used fill in flash on manual half power and set to high – speed sync. The flash was particularly necessary for the umbrella shot below.
